Group Category: Organizing Groups for Better Access Management

Group Categories provide a structured way to organize related groups under distinct labels. This feature improves the clarity and efficiency of access management, particularly when managing diverse teams and roles.

Accessing Group Categories in the Admin Console

To view and manage Group Categories:

  1. Open the Admin Console.

  2. Navigate to the Groups & Permissions section.

  3. Click the Group Category tab on the left-hand menu.

  4. A card-based view of Group Categories will be displayed.

Searching for Group Categories

To locate specific Group Categories:

  1. Use the Search box located above the Group Category cards.

  2. Enter a relevant keyword.

  3. Click the Search button to display Group Categories that match your keyword.

Creating a Group Category

To create a new Group Category

  1. Click the Create Category button.

  1. Fill in the required details as described below.

Group Category Details

Category ID:

A unique identifier for the group category. This ID acts as a special code, ensuring that each category is distinct and easily recognizable.

Category Name:

A human-readable label for the category, making it simple to identify and manage.

Category Description:

A brief explanation of the category's purpose and scope, providing additional context for its use.

Metadata Fields: (Optional)

Metadata allows you to attach extra information to a category in the form of Key-Value pairs.

Key: Represents the name of the metadata field.

Value: Specifies the associated data or functionality for the key.

Use metadata to add flexibility and extended functionality to your categories.

  1. After completing all mandatory fields, click the Save button to create the new Group Category.

The new category will be added to the system and ready for use in organizing groups.

Editing a Group Category

To edit an existing Group Category:

  1. Open the Admin Console.

  2. Navigate to the Groups & Permissions section.

  3. Select the Group Category tab from the left-hand menu.

  4. Locate the category you want to edit in the table view.

  1. Click the Edit icon on the card to open the Edit Category modal.

  2. Make the necessary changes to the following fields:

  • Category ID

  • Category Name

  • Category Description

  • Metadata Fields (optional)

  1. Ensure all mandatory fields are filled out.

  2. Click the Save button to apply and save the changes.

The updated category will reflect immediately in the system.

Deleting a Group Category

To delete a Group Category:

  1. Open the Admin Console.

  2. Navigate to the Groups & Permissions section.

  3. Select the Group Category tab from the left-hand menu.

  4. Locate the category you wish to delete in the card view.

  5. Click the Edit icon on the card to open the Edit Category modal.

  6. In the modal, locate and click the Delete button.

  7. A confirmation prompt will appear. Review the details carefully, and confirm your decision to delete the category.

Once confirmed, the category will be permanently removed from the system.
